Meme Art

I chose memes that I saw when I first started using the internet and used a format that was popular at the time. As memes have evolved from images to videos, especially after the rise of Vine, the rate at which memes are created and pushed into obscurity has accelerated. The term "dead meme" has been used more and more as memes' lifespans have shortened. My meme mashup parodies this concept of dead memes by utilizing old memes and using an old format featuring the pinwheel rainbow background, Impact font, and top text bottom text. I like to imagine my image being created during the era when these memes were popular, with someone boasting that these memes will never die and will always be funny. It can be argued that every meme will never truly die because of the nature of the internet and how, if something is posted, it can never be truly deleted. No matter how old these memes are or any other memes are, there will always be someone who has saved them on their computer or cataloged them on websites such as Know Your Meme.
